What's Goin' On Tuesday

Uh oh, looks like someone got into some drawers, someone else forgot to fold the laundry, another someone is peeved that her hair isn't "done" and I'm taking pictures, and lastly someone's taking a rest.
Life as we know it.

What's Goin' On

I've decided to start a segment. Regular blogging? You say. Well, yes.

Hopefully.

What's Goin' On will represent my best intentions about blogging our everyday life. But just on Fridays...
Who knows who wants to see this, but maybe those grandparents will like the pics of the kids at least ;) rules? No straightening rooms, no eliminating clutter, no posing. This is how we live, for better or worse. Lots o' lovin and lots o' messes!
pics top to bottom (we say bum): An abandoned clue game. The lonely living room. The Corner with our empty frames hung (I thought Bepo may want to see her table represented!). A little boy (10 1/2) and girl (8) who are LOVING no school time to interfere with their playing of Calvin and Hobbes.
Happy Friday!

Story Time

Test Scores!

We're so proud of Jonah and Ava! Joe scored 99th percentile and Ava scored 91st!! That means they scored higher than that percentage of kids in that grade. Woot!!!

Abram's Phunny Phone

I know, I'm dorky--Ph, Ph...haha
Isn't he just so darn cute...?!?!

Jonah's Recital

I'm such a slacker! Jonah had his recital on May 1 and while I posted it on facebook, I completely forgot to blog it.
He did a great job, we are very proud of all his hard work (read: all the times I had to remind him to practice). Now that he's done, he's got some new material to work with and is sitting down at the piano just for fun again. It's nice to have a goal, but it's also nice when it's been fulfilled and he can move on to something he's excited about again (the way he was when he first got The Fifth to work on, for example!).
Here ya go, I hope you enjoy!

Award Day

We are so proud of Jonah and Ava! They each received awards at school. Jonah got two for memory work. One was Scripture and one was for Historical Documents (Preamble, a bunch of Amendments, Declaration of Independence).
Ava received Scholar of the Year for her class (only 1 girl and 1 boy in each class get this honor)!!
They both have worked so hard this year--we are really loving their school and the education they are receiving is incredible.
(Sorry for the horribly fuzzy pictures!)

LIMO!!

We are so proud of Jonah--he worked hard at piano all year doing a game his piano teacher invented called Musikopoly. He had to practice each week a certain amount, attend concerts, recitals, do a research report on a composer (can you guess who he chose?), do a recital at a nursing home, do online studies, memorize his favorite songs and more.
He earned his reward: A Limo Ride!!
Here he is with his pal Jason and hanging out the window and looking oh, so EXCITED standing in front of the ride! Ha! Great job Jonah!!!!!

Thank you, Jamie...

I've been wanting a new camera in order to take funky pictures...never even thought of checking the app store! Jamie bought this hipstamatic app and so like the little sister I am, I copied her ;)
I'm so glad I did.
These were just the early photos while I was figuring out all the lenses and film...

A Little Bit O' Boo

Just in case you needed your dose of Boo for the day....

OMSI Day

We ran into a girl from Jonah's class. We run into her family everywhere. Seriously. And this is a big city, people. I'm expecting them to move in next door anytime now.

Boo and Abey loved the sandpit!

What a day!

The Making of an Ottoman

What do you do when you're Dutch and don't want to spend big bucks on an ottoman?
Make one.
As long as your husband has (or you have) a few tools, of course ;)
I bought an old ugly pine coffee table off Craigslist for $15, Jon resized the top and I sanded, primed, and painted the legs. I got some foam, batting, and a course linen from the fabric store, covered a few buttons, and we were off.
